CINEMA
I've always loved the movies, especially the old classics like film noir. I've got an impressive collection of videos, laserdiscs and DVDs. I have a long-standing tradition of hosting Friday Night Movies at which I share my favorite flicks with friends along with theme foods or drinks. My Top Ten Favorite Movies keep changing and reflect an eclectic mix.

FILM MAKING
A relatively new interest of mine is in screenwriting and I've noticed that a number of friends are getting involved in amateur filmmaking. Here are some of their sites and some reference for would-be filmmakers.

SCIENCE FICTION
Always a big science fiction and fantasy buff, I'm mostly into media SF, simply since I don't have a huge amount of time for reading. Star Trek has been a big influence and I've followed all the series, though I liked the black sheep of the family, Deep Space 9, the most due to superior writing and continuous story lines. I have a complete set of all the Star Trek episodes (all 4 series) and also all 157 Twilight Zone Episodes. One of my Top 10 movies is also my favorite SF flick of all times: "Aliens." Go, Ripley! Started collecting comic books when I was ten and 30-odd years later, I still dabble. I'm eagerly anticipating the release of the last "Lord of the Rings" movie in December.

What can I say, everything in life can somehow relate back to a Simpsons episode.

BROADWAY MUSICALS
OK, I know this sounds stereotypically gay, but I love musicals. I like to see a lot of theater in Boston and my ex-boyfriend, the opera-singing cop, got me more high-brow with Verdi and Puccini operas.

BUDDHISM AND SPIRITUALITY
Though raised Roman Catholic, Eastern philosophy has fascinated me since college. I don't consider myself very religious, but I do thin of myself as being very spiritual. Back in '98, I discovered the burgeoning field of gay spirituality, from which I've attended many retreats and met tons of fantastic people. I currently attend a Unitarian Universalist church, which appeals to my personal and eclectic approach to spirituality.

ALTERNATIVE HEALTH
After being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis ten years ago, I've become interested in alternative therapies for chronic conditions. I see Western medicine as great for some things, but mostly it's a big tool box with two tools in it: surgery and pharmaceuticals. How about diet, exercise, meditation, yoga, herbal and homeopathic remedies, massage, etc.

GAMING
My high school years were spent designing the latest D&D campaign. After the Secret Masters helped weaned me off an obsession with Illuminati: New World Order, I currently like Cheapass Games like Kill Dr. Lucky. Wanna play?
