Sunday, July 14: Legion of Honor

Bodega Schoolhouse and Bodega Bay (The Birds)

Approaching the infamous Bodega schoolhouse from The Birds The scene filmed here was voted one of the 50 Greatest Film moments You can almost still hear the kids singing Ristle-te, rostle-te, now, now, now. David and Drew check cautiously for crows Fulfilling a lifelong dream to visit this schoolhouse The school yard and the jungle gym used to be here Wait! Those trees weren't there 40 years ago! Here's where school teacher Annie's (Suzanne Pleshette) house used to be Foreboding looking, isn't it? When the kids run to escape the crows… …they run down this street to the docks So where are the docks and the Tides restaurant? Here they are! Some 5 miles away in Bodega Bay And it's been renovated since 1963 The Tides Restaurant A shot of Bodega Head from the Tides' wharf Bodega Head where the Brenner Ranch used to be The wharf at the Tides where Tippi Hedron rents the boat Me at the wharf (not renting a boat) That's Bodega Head behind me David (aka randomlife) inspects the jaw of a whale Now he just looks insouciant If you look closely, you can see Dan inside avoiding the cold wind The seaward side of Bodega Head Oh, that dramatic Sonoma Country coastline! Inside Mission Dolores This is the oldest building in San Francisco! At the grave of Carlotta Valdez The beautiful cemetery of the Mission Dolores A close up of Carlotta's grave The church will rebuilt after the 1906 quake, but the mission remained relatively undamaged Dan reads about an early San Franciscan unfortunate St Francis stands in the middle of the old cemetery Jimmy Stewart follows Kim Novak in here where he first learns of Carlotta Valdez Bye, Dan and Drew, thanks for everything!
