Hi, all! Miles and I are planning to use this week's Halloween get-together as the kick-off of a continuing series of Friday Night Movie Nights at our place. Ever since "The X-Files" moved to Sunday night, we've really missed the traditional Friday night get-togethers as a chance to connect and catchup with friends. It's just not the same when alien parasites burst out of someone's chest not to hear everyone scream. On top of that, winter is approaching and what better way to weather the cold than to curl up together on the sofa warming ourselves on hot tea and the comforting glow of the TV screen showing bitchy divas from the silver screen rip each other to shreads (e.g., Bette and Joan)! We're proposing every other Friday night, the first and third Fridays of each month. We will pick the movie ahead of time and notify everyone by e-mail. We are more than happy to take suggestions ahead of time for movies; if we don't have it in our personal collection, there are three video stores within a mile radius. Those with Web access can search the 120,000 movies in the excellent Internet Movie Database at http://us.imdb.com/ for ideas. Abraham Licoln said, "You can't please all the people all the time." With this crowd, we'll rarely all agree on the movie each time (if ever), so we're asking people to be opened minded. You may be pleasantly surprised by a movie you'd not have picked out yourself. The advanced notification will also let you determine if you want to skip that week or not, but of course I'd encourage you to come and share the experience anyway. If the choice is really bad, we can always do the Mystery Science Theater 3000 thing and make catty comments. Come join us this Friday for Addams Family Values (1993), starring Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia, and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. Selected Simpsons Halloween shorts to start. Kevin & Miles
