I love movies! I've collected hundreds of films on video, laserdisc and DVD. Wanting to share my love of cinema, several years ago my friends and I began a tradition known as Friday Night Movies, which has become an ongoing event in my circle.
Friday Night Movies begins as an e-mail invitation and a web page which lists the movie, director,actors, awards, as well as taglines, quotes, trivia and goofs from the film. When the night rolls around, guests are served themed food and drinks--martinis, "shaken not stirred, it bruises the gin," for "Auntie Mame," fry bread for "Smoke Signals," jellies bean pills in Dixie cups labeled Thorazine for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." There's also an FNM contest, such as Spot the Director's Cameo, complete with kitchy prizes. Once the initial socializing is over, we begin with cartoons shorts, then it's lights out, candles on, popcorn popping and cameras rolling...
