Special Collector's Edition 10th Anniversary DVD
USA: 1990 -- Directed by Tim Burton
Starring Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest and Vincent Price
"Before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. I don't think it would be snowing now if he weren't still up there. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it."
"Once upon a time an a castle high on a hill lived an inventor whose greatest creation was named Edward. Although Edward had an irresistible charm, he wasn't quite perfect. The inventor's sudden death left him unfinished, with sharp spears of metal hands. Edward lived alone in the darkness until one day a kind Avon lady took him home to live with her family. And so began Edward's fantastical adventures in a pastel paradise known as Suburbia."
One of Tim Burton's best films is a modern-day fantasy tale which weaves a delightful and surreal mood while touching on the age-old issue of how the outsider longs to fit in to society. Johnny Depp and Dianne Wiest give incredible performances, while Vincent Price has a small cameo in what would be his final film appearance. My favorite "character" in the film is Danny Elfman's incredible and ethereal score, unforgettable and probably his best. A fun and touching movie!
Hope to see you there. I'll save you an aisle seat and some garden shears!

Edward's castle is seen looming above town on a forbidding mountain at the start of the film. Later, when he's chased home by the townspeople, the other houses on the street are shown at the same altitude as the castle entrance, but there's a long access road up the hill to the actual castle.
